Franklin man charged with high-level drug dealing

Prosecutors charged a Franklin man with high-level drug dealing after a search warrant turned up more than 200 grams of mushrooms.

Steven Allen McCray, 35, is charged with dealing in a Schedule I controlled substance, a Level 2 felony; dealing in marijuana, a Level 6 felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

Police served a search warrant last weekend at his home in the 1100 block of Hospital Road, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Johnson County Circuit Court.

During the search, detectives from the Franklin Police Department and Johnson County Sheriff’s Office found more than 200 grams of Psilocybin mushrooms and more than 30 grams of marijuana, according to court documents.

They found the drugs with about $20,000 in cash, which had an odor of marijuana and was previously marked “buy money” utilized by detectives to purchase drugs, court documents show.

If convicted, McCray could face up to about 32.5 years in prison.
