Carlene Bales Coffing

GREENWOOD

81, passed away Monday, February 21, 2022. Carlene was born to Carl and Ethel Bales in Indianapolis, IN on March 25, 1940.

Carlene graduated from Morgantown high school in June of 1958 and married her first love, John Coffing. John and Carlene were married for 61 years. Carlene was a member of Mt. Pleasant Christian Church for 58 years. While there, she participated in the choir and taught Sunday school. She was very proud to have been able to work for the Indiana State Senate. Carlene loved caring for her 8 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren. Her hobbies included working around her garden, quilting, crocheting, but most of all she loved spending time with her husband and family. Carlene and John would winter in Florida, and she loved the easy pace of life and all the great friends she made while there.

Carlene is survived by her daughters: Deborah (Greg) C. Green of Greenwood, IN and Lori (Kennith) A. Swafford of Morgantown, IN, Siblings: LaVonda Coffman of Greenwood IN and Charles (Brenda) Bales of New Palestine, IN. 7 grandchildren: Christopher (Emma)M. Mills, Luke (Kenya) R. Swafford, Jacob (Jennifer) M. Swafford, Angel Alamo-Tapia, Kennith (Becky) P. Swafford, John (Tonya) C. Swafford, Anthony (Sarah) D. Swafford, 23 great grandchildren, two nieces, and four nephews.

Carlene is preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Coffing, and one granddaughter Erin M. Mills.

A visitation will be held Friday February 25th, 2022, at Wilson St Pierre Funeral Home, 481 W. Main St Greenwood IN, 46142 from 4pm to 8pm. A funeral service will be held Saturday February 26, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Wilson St Pierre Funeral Home. Her burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
