Four people, including a 4-year-old child, were taken to the hospital after a two-car crash Tuesday night east of Greenwood.

Police and fire responded at 7:14 p.m. to the 3600 block of East Rocklane Road on the report of a serious accident, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

A 25-year-old Greensburg woman said she was traveling west on Rocklane Road, and noticed another SUV that was traveling east start to cross into her lane. She veered to the right and her wheels went off the roadway. She then steered back onto the roadway and must have overcorrected, she said. She lost control and hit the other SUV, almost head on in the eastbound lane, according to the accident report.

That SUV, a rental car driven by a 23-year-old man from San Antonio, Texas, went off of the southside of the roadway and flipped. The 59-year-old passenger, also from Texas, was trapped and had to be extricated, according to the report.

The 59-year-old passenger was listed in serious condition Tuesday night at IU Health Methodist Hospital. The driver of that vehicle had a possible broken leg, Sheriff Duane Burgess said.

The other driver and child were listed in stable condition at Methodist, he said.

The accident is still under investigation.
