Mary Virginia (Wolf) Prohl

FRANKLIN

Mary Virginia (Wolf) Prohl, 79, of Franklin, IN was born February 22, 1943 to Comer Wolf and Della (Gibson) Wolf in Indianapolis, IN. She passed away March 14, 2022 at Johnson County Memorial Hospital in Franklin, IN. Mary was a resident of Otterbein Franklin SeniorLife Community. She will be cremated with a Celebration of Life scheduled for a later date.

Mary was preceded in death by her son, Steven Russell Prohl.

She is survived by her husband Fred Prohl of Franklin, IN, sons Carl Prohl of Greenwood, IN and Benjamin Prohl and daughter-in law Katherine (Ghormley) Prohl of Des Moines, IA, grandchildren, Rowen, Gideon, and Maisie, a brother David Wolf and his wife Darbie of Brownsburg, IN and a sister Dorothy (Wolf) Ward of Zionsville, IN.

She graduated from North Central High School, Indianapolis; received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education at Ball State University; earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Butler University, and a Reading Certification from Ohio State University.

Mary and Fred married in July of 1966, a year after meeting in a Purdue chemistry class.

Mary taught elementary school fourth graders, and language skills at two community colleges Ivy Tech in Indianapolis and the National College of Business. Her favorite job was working for the Literacy Council, Columbus, Ohio.

Mary’s pass time was crafting, sewing, knitting, and artwork. She has many completed items to show for her work. She always looked forward to exchanging stories with her friends, Stephanie, Sarah, Sherry, Jeanette, Jennifer, and Jamie.

Mary was confident in her belief of our Savior and knew she would now be with Jesus.
