Shepherd facing uphill climb

The start of the second round of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur at Champions Retreat was delayed by several hours Thursday due to weather, and darkness halted play at 7:52 p.m., before anyone was able to finish 18 holes. Center Grove graduate Erica Shepherd will resume play this morning on the 10th hole.

Shepherd gained a few spots on the leaderboard Thursday but still faces long odds of making a third consecutive cut at the event. The Duke junior was 2 over par on her front nine Thursday and sits at +9 overall, tied for 52nd place. The top 30 after the completion of the second round will advance to Saturday’s final round at Augusta National.
