Three injured in Whiteland building collapse

Three people were injured during a building collapse in Whiteland Friday afternoon.

The building was under construction in the 600 block N. Front Street. Three construction workers were at the site of building working. Some of the workers had to be pulled out of the structure, said Eric Funkhouser, Whiteland fire chief.

The workers were all taken to an area hospital. One was transported with lacerations, one was complaining of pain, one was transported as a precaution, said Jim Lowhorn, town manager.

Firefighters are investigating the building collapsed, Lowhorn said.

Several area fire departments responded, including Whiteland, Franklin and Greenwood.
