Grizzly Cubs hammer Falcons

Max Clark homered, scored four runs and struck out 13 in five innings on the mound as Franklin cruised to a 12-4 win at Perry Meridian on Tuesday. Drew Doty went 3 for 5 and matched Logen Devenport with two RBIs for the Grizzly Cubs (4-2, 3-0 Mid-State), who broke the game 0pen with an eight-run fifth inning.

Warriors earn league wins

Whiteland blanked Plainfield, 7-0 and 10-0, in a home doubleheader. Drew Helton and Jonathan Moreno went the distance on the mound for the Warriors (7-1, 4-0 Mid-State), keeping the Quakers off the board.

Boys golf

Franklin picks up road win

Jake Lock carded a career-low 37 to help lead Franklin to a 162-165 victory over Seymour at Shadowood on Tuesday. Will McGuinness added a 40 and Luke Bechert a 41 for the Grizzly Cubs, while Kadin Gibson and Kyle Diebold each shot 44.

Girls tennis

Warriors edge Cardinals

A doubles sweep lifted Whiteland to a 3-2 win at Southport on Tuesday. Kailyn Sheridan and Brenna Atchison picked up the point at No. 1 doubles, while Ella Proctor and Kinsey Shipp pulled out the clinching three-set victory at No. 2. Candace Stephenson was a winner in the third singles spot.

Trojans get past North Central

Center Grove used three three-set victories to pick up a 3-2 triumph over North Central. Lauren Dick and Ava Beecher were winners in the top two singles spots for the Trojans, while Hudson Gilstorf and Annaliese Runkle earned a win at first doubles.

Braves edged by Eagles

In a match that featured three three-setters, Indian Creek came up just short against Brown County, 3-2. Lauren Foster won at third singles for the Braves, while Olivia Perry and Emilee Scott were victorious at No. 1 doubles.

Woodmen boys earn victory

Greenwood’s boys came out on top in a four-way meet against Indian Creek, Edinburgh and Monrovia on Tuesday. The Woodmen won all three relays and got individual first-place finishes from Jordan Bonser (200 and 400), C.J. Price (high jump and long jump), Dylan Mayhew (shot put), Brayden Gardner (discus), Will Riley (100), Sam Grimes (1,600), Conner Watson (3,200) and Stuart Luhigo (800).

On the girls side, Monrovia took the win while Greenwood edged Indian Creek for second. The Woodmen girls got wins from Ellie Irwin (high jump), Emma Gardner (shot put) and Ryann Marker (1,600).

Franklin College

Softball splits with Hanover

Franklin College took the front end of a Tuesday twinbill against visiting Hanover, claiming a 3-0 victory before dropping the back half by a 3-2 score. Sydney Pitts tossed a six-hit shutout in the opener for the Grizzlies (10-11, 3-3 HCAC), who got a leadoff homer from Sydney Bostic in the fourth to open the scoring.

Riddle earns weekly honor

Greenwood native Baleigh Riddle was named the HCLC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring a school-record 10 goals for Franklin College women’s lacrosse team on Saturday.
