Warriors clip Woodmen
Whiteland pulled out a 3-2 triumph over Greenwood on Thursday. The Warriors (2-1) got wins from Candace Stephenson at third singles, Kailyn Sheridan and Brenna Atchison at No. 1 doubles and Ella Proctor and Kinsey Shipp at No. 2. Sophia Davidson and Marisa Linville won in straight sets at first and second singles for the Woodmen.
Lancers fall just shy
Despite straight-set victories from Bethany Burton and Jessica Walsh in the first two singles slots, Edinburgh wound up on the short end of a 3-2 score against rival Hauser.
Boys golf
Edinburgh wins three-way
Max Blandford’s 40 helped lead Edinburgh to victories over Morristown and Southwestern at Timbergate. Trevor Moon added a 47 for the Lancers, who finished with a team total of 192.
Grizzly Cubs edge Shelbyville
A medalist round of 36 from Will McGuinness lifted Franklin to a 167-171 win over Shelbyville at Blue Bear. Kadin Gibson shot a 42 for the Grizzly Cubs, followed by Luke Bechert at 43 and Jake Lock and Kyle Diebold both at 46.
Softball
Lancers blank Cougars
MacKenzie Bieker and Gracie Crawhorn homered to help lead Edinburgh to a 10-0 victory over South Decatur. Bieker, who finished the day with four RBIs, also struck out 14 while yielding just two hits over five innings for the Lancers (1-4, 1-1 Mid-Hoosier).

Woodmen compete in tri-meet
Greenwood’s boys placed second and the girls third in a three-way meet against Perry Meridian and New Palestine on Thursday.

Artesians top Woodmen
Martinsville scored two go-ahead runs in the sixth and added five in the seventh to earn a 12-8 triumph over Greenwood on Thursday. Josh Miller and Landen Smith each drove in two runs for the Woodmen (1-4, 0-4 Mid-State).

Softball hammers Engineers
Frankin College rolled to a doubleheader sweep at Rose-Hulman on Thursday, posting 9-0 and 15-1 victories. Addie Csikos hit her first career home run in the opener for the Grizzlies (12-11, 5-3 HCAC), while Shelby Crockett and Sydney Rodeghier each went deep in the nightcap.

Free water safety lessons at FCHS
Franklin Regional Swim Team will host a free water safety course on Saturday for students in grades K-5 at the Franklin Community High School pool. Lessons for kindergarten through grade 2 will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon, and grades 3-5 will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Kids will learn basic water safety and swimming skills. Canned food donations are encouraged but not required. Interested families can sign up at https://forms.gle/
