Warriors keep rolling

Home runs from Haley Wilkerson and winning pitcher Debbie Hill helped Whiteland cruise to a 14-4 victory against Class 4A No. 5 Noblesville on Friday. Hill drove in four runs and Kiley Sullivan three for the Warriors (7-0).

Lancers outslug South Decatur

Gracie Crawhorn and Kyah Streeval clubbed two homers apiece in Edinburgh’s 20-12 win over South Decatur on Friday. Streeval was 4 for 5 and finished with six RBIs for the Lancers (2-4, 1-1 Mid-Hoosier), who got three hits each from Crawhorn and Angel Carman.

Trojans edge Bulldogs

Riley Janda had three hits and three RBIs and Ruby Thompson hit a solo home run as Center Grove downed previously unbeaten Brownsburg, 9-5, in 11 innings on Thursday. Lex Warner drove in a pair for the Trojans (4-2).

Lancers defeat Olympians

Edinburgh posted a 4-1 triumph over Columbus East on Friday. Bethany Burton and Jessica Walsh were victorious in the first two singles spots for the Lancers, while the first doubles team of Alyssa Funkhouser and Peyton Bryant and the No. 2 duo of Zoey Sida and Gracie Myers picked up their respective points.

Grizzly Cubs stay perfect

Continuing its string of 5-0 victories, Franklin swept Mooresville on Thursday night. Rylie Wilkison, Chelsie Rayl, and Emma Williams took the three singles points, Haley Haldeman and Ailyn Hendricks won at first doubles and Emma Sappenfield and Kennedy Urban came out on top at second doubles.

Franklin salvages split

Franklin bounced right back from a 13-5 loss to Perry Meridian on Thursday night by hammering Southport, 18-6. Max Clark and Jackson Henry homered in the win for the Grizzly Cubs (5-3, 3-1 Mid-State), combining with Beau Baker to drive in 10 of the team’s runs.

Grizzly Cubs compete in tri-meet

Franklin opened its season with a meet against Center Grove and Columbus North on Thursday evening. Josh Brown scored in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 11 inches and was followed by teammates Addison Zieniewics, Maria Shaw, Lauren Brunning and Matt Kale. Hunter Couden Case led the Grizzly Cubs in the shot put with a throw of 24-9, with Ethan McHenry, Joe Admire, DJ Martin, Reece Claprodt, Wyatt Mathieux and Ben Wood also taking part.

On the track, Case and Zieniewics won their 100-meter dash heats and Admire made his debut in the event; they were joined by Jenna Newton, Cami Marshall and Austin Zieniewics. Brown, Jenna Newton, Wyatt Mathieux, Austin Zieniewics and Matthew Gaines then competed in the 400. The boys’ 4×100 relay team of Brown, Austin Zieniewics, Mathieux and Gaines scored points to round out the night.
