Board appoints new Center Grove Elementary principal

Center Grove school officials have appointed the next principal of Center Grove Elementary School.

Craig Buckler is stepping up to the role from his current position as assistant principal of River Birch Elementary School with Avon Community Schools.

His education career started in Johnson County, where he taught first, second and third grade at Clark-Pleasant Community Schools. He then taught at Beech Grove City Schools and moved into his first administration role as principal of Central Elementary School, according to a Center Grove schools news release.

“I am very excited to join the Center Grove Elementary community,” Buckler said in the release. “I am looking forward to making connections with the students, staff and families and beginning this next chapter in my professional journey.”

Buckler graduated Ball State University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, before completing his master’s in administration at Indiana University. He also has a degree in school administration from Indiana State University, according to the release.

Buckler will replace Krista Nelson, who is moving up to a district-level position with Center Grove Schools, director of human resources and student services, the release says.
