College notebook: Snyder picks up wins for Concordia

Senior Logan Snyder won his No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles matches for Concordia (Wisconsin) men’s tennis in a 5-4 victory over Milwaukee School of Engineering. The former Franklin player is 7-10 this season in singles and 11-9 in doubles competition.

Franklin

Butler freshman golfer Damon Dickey shot a three-round total of 227 to tie for 39th place at the Big East Conference championships in Pine Mountain, Georgia.

Javan Johnson helped the Taylor men’s golf squad win the Crossroads League championship, his three-round total of 213 being the third-lowest score overall. Huntington freshman Quin Edwards played the final two rounds, carding scores of 84 and 86.

Senior Chandler McGaha took sixth in the 800-meter run for Butler, producing a time of 1:50.28 at the Indiana track and field invitational.

University of Indianapolis runner Emma Treibic posted a career-best time of 2:23.72 in the 800-meter run at the Little State Championships.

Center Grove

Marian freshman Brandon Heffner tied for seventh place with a three-round total of 223 as the Knights were runner-up at the Crossroads League men’s golf championship.

Senior Ethan Shepherd finished 19th individually with a total score of one-over-par 217 as the Indiana men’s golf team placed sixth at the Kepler Intercollegiate.

Indiana Wesleyan men’s tennis defeated Indiana East, 5-0, as sophomore Trey Thixton won his No. 3 doubles match. Ashlee Fisk won at No. 1 doubles and No. 3 singles as the Wildcat women downed Holy Cross. The freshman also posted singles wins against Indiana Tech and Indiana East.

Sophomore Lexi Fair doubled for Southern Indiana in its 5-3 win against Maryville and again in a 10-2 defeat of Missouri S&T.

Northwestern softball completed a three-game sweep at Indiana. Wildcats catcher Jordyn Rudd finished the series 4 of 13 at the plate with a double and three runs scored.

Senior outfielder Hanna Burris singled twice for UIndy softball in its 4-0 shutout of Missouri S&T.

Alabama sophomore Bryce Eblin singled and doubled as the Crimson Tide baseball team defeated Samford, 9-3.

Whiteland

Franklin College sophomore Zach Ricketts tied for 23rd at the Earlham men’s golf spring invite with a two-round total of 156.

Lipscomb freshman Bella Jackson took seventh in the high jump with a best of 5 feet, 6½ inches at the Georgia Tech Invitational and was 18th in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.91 seconds.

University of Indianapolis sophomore Michaela Adams had a career best in the discus at the Little State track and field championships at Indiana Wesleyan, finishing seventh with a best of 131 feet, 9 inches.

Indiana Wesleyan senior pitcher Danielle Munn improved her record to 8-3 this season, working three frames of two-hit relief in a 2-1 win over Grace College.

Addison Csikos doubled for the Franklin College softball team in a 7-6 win over Spalding.

Anderson senior Brady Reed doubled and drove in a run in an 8-5 victory at Defiance and singled in a 7-6 win. He drove in a run in the Ravens’ 11-10 loss to DePauw.

Greenwood

Franklin College junior Janae Johnson placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles, posting a time of 1:15.84 at the Rose-Hulman Twilight Meet. Johnson was also fifth in the 100 hurdles in 17.27 seconds, while FC’s Mallory Watson helped the 4×400 relay take fourth in 4:25.25.

Lipscomb’s Hanna Anderson posted the 25th-best time in the 400-meter dash at the Georgia Tech Invitational, running a time of 58.23 seconds.

UIndy freshman Emily Bonser finished sixth in the shot put at the Little State meet with a distance of 39 feet, 9¾ inches and took third in the hammer throw with a new personal record of 156-2. Brandon Albin established a PR of his own (4:35.01) in the men’s 1,500-meter run.

Catcher Lexy Rees hit a pair of singles, stole a base and scored a run as the UIndy softball squad downed Missouri S&T, 4-0. She drove in three runs in the second game of the doubleheader, a 9-1 win. Sophomore leadoff hitter Dominique Proctor doubled and scored for the Greyhounds in the first outing and produced three singles in the nightcap.

Taylor junior T.J. Bass blasted a grand slam in an 11-7 baseball loss to Indiana Wesleyan. He singled in the second game of the doubleheader, a 6-3 Taylor victory.
