Girls tennis

Braves cruise to shutout win

Indian Creek dropped just three games across five matches in a 5-0 sweep of South Putnam on Monday. Lauren Foster, Lauren Lewis and Zoe Rayback all won their singles matches in straight sets for the Braves (10-3, 6-2 WIC), while both doubles teams (Emilee Scott/Olivia Perry and Avery Burress/Addy Tunell) were 6-0, 6-0 winners.

Lancers edge Spartans

A singles sweep allowed Edinburgh to pick up a 3-2 victory over Southwestern. Bethany Burton, Jessica Walsh and Peyton Bryant each won in straight sets to clinch the win for the Lancers.

Royals advance past Speedway

Roncalli earned a 4-1 win over Speedway in the first round of the Marion County tournament. Ally Feltz and Bridget Hehmann were winners at second and third singles, Katrina Gangstad and Elsie Kerr picked up the point at No. 1 doubles and Sophia Saran and Marisa Morwick did the same in the No. 2 position.

Top-ranked Roncalli rolls

Keagan Rothrock struck out 16 and Cate Lehner and Tori Candler both homered as Class 4A No. 1 Roncalli routed Lawrence North, 10-0, to advance to the championship game of the Marion County tournament. Candler, Lehner and Rothrock combined for seven RBIs for the Royals (20-0).

Baseball

Edinburgh outslugs Genesis

Jarrett Turner and Gabe Bennett each drove in three runs and Edinburgh used a seven-run third inning to power its way to an 11-6 triumph over Indy Genesis on Monday. Turner homered and Bennett doubled twice for the Lancers (4-12).

Royals fall in county tourney

Despite a home run from Christian Ampil, Roncalli suffered a 7-2 loss to Lawrence North in the semifinal round of the Marion County tournament.

Boys tennis

Lancers finish second

Edinburgh split a three-way match at North Branch on Monday, falling to North Decatur but edging Hauser. Mason Calhoun led the Lancers with a 45, followed by Max Blandford (47), Cash Cunningham (49) and Trevor Moon (50).

Girls lacrosse

Roncalli tops North Central

Katie Matthews, Natalie Mullin and Claire Pittman each scored twice in Roncalli’s 9-4 win over North Central on Monday.

Volleyball

Grizzly Cubs named Carlson new coach

Patrick Carlson, who has won 544 matches over nearly three decades of varsity coaching, was approved as the new head coach at Franklin on Monday evening. Carlson coached last season at Tri after four years at Park Tudor. His other previous stops have included Perry Meridian and Lawrence North.
