Baseball falls into elimination round

A late rally came up short as Franklin College fell to Earlham, 9-8, in a winner’s bracket semifinal at the HCAC tournament on Friday. AJ Sanders homered and tripled for the Grizzlies (29-13), who will have another chance to move into the championship game when they play again at 12:30 p.m. today.

Braves topple Lancers

Arjun Lothe hit a two-run homer and Gavin Francis also drove in a pair of runs as Indian Creek took advantage of nine Edinburgh errors in a 13-3 victory on Friday. Carter Modlin pitched six innings to earn the win for the Braves (10-7).

Warriors get back on track

Whiteland snapped a seven-game skid with an 8-5 win over Shelbyville. Donovan Woodall had two hits and two RBIs for the Warriors (10-12).

Trojans sweep Warriors

Center Grove dropped just seven games on the way to a 5-0 shutout win over Whiteland on Friday. Lauren Dick, Ava Beecher and Emerson Donaldson took the singles points for the Trojans, while Hudson Gilstorf and Annaliese Runkle won at first doubles and Madison Herron and Peri Small came out on top at No. 2.

Jake Lock shot a 39 to lead Franklin to a 164-188 win over Martinsville on Thursday. Conner Diebold and Luke Bechert each carded a 41 for the Grizzly Cubs, followed by Kadin Gibson’s with a 43.
