Greenwood parks to host fourth pickleball open

The city of Greenwood will be hosting a three-day pickleball open later this month.

The fourth annual Greenwood Pickleball Open will take place from May 20-22, following Pickleball and Pints on May 19. The three-day event will be held on the pickleball courts in Craig Park, with men’s doubles matches on Friday, women’s doubles on Saturday and mixed doubles on Sunday, the city announced this week.

Nearly 150 people have registered for the open so far, and all profits will support pickleball amenities within Greenwood, according to a city of Greenwood news release.

The winning doubles team from each skill level will receive $100 in gift cards to Dick’s Sporting Goods. The runner-up teams will receive $50 in gift cards, according to the news release.

During Pickleball and Pints there will also be an open play option. Players can play from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. on May 19. Beer with provided by Oaken Barrel Brewing Company. Tickets include one beer, and the first 72 registrants will receive a 2022 commemorative pint glass. Registration is currently open and will remain open until the start of the event, the news release says.
