Warriors win key league clash

Debbie Hill pitched a complete game, striking out nine, as Class 4A No. 2 Whiteland took sole possession of the Mid-State Conference lead with a 10-2 home win over No. 3 Mooresville on Tuesday. Halle Nett and Ava Smith each had two RBIs for the Warriors (22-1, 13-0), who can claim the outright league title with a road win over the Pioneers today.

Grizzly Cubs tame Hawks

Jackson Henry pitched a complete game and drove in two runs to lead Franklin to a 9-2 home win over Decatur Central on Tuesday. Logen Devenport knocked in two runs and scored two for the Grizzly Cubs (16-7, 10-3 Mid-State).

Whiteland defeated at home

Whiteland suffered a 4-1 setback against Class 4A No. 2 Mooresville. Donovan Woodall had two hits and scored the lone run for the Warriors (10-13, 5-8 Mid-State).

Woodmen fall to Flashes

Greenwood gave up 11 fourth-inning runs and suffered a 15-8 home loss to Franklin Central on Monday. Landen Smith had three RBIs for the Woodmen (6-12-1), while Justin Donenfeld collected three of the team’s 12 hits.

Edinburgh comes up short

Despite a two-run homer from Riley Palmeter, Edinburgh suffered a 14-3 setback against Waldron on Monday night. Noah Detling also drove in a run for the Lancers (5-15, 1-10 Mid-Hoosier), who lost at Oldenburg Academy on Tuesday, 12-2.

Warriors eke out victory

Whiteland emerged a narrow 172-173 winner over Shelbyville on Tuesday. Will Davis led the Warriors with a 37, followed by Evan Meece with a 43.

Trojans defeat Pioneers

Led by Drew Rowen’s 35, Center Grove earned a 151-165 triumph over Mooresville. Nate Olson carded a 38 for the Trojans, while Luke Beet and Drew Hardin each shot 39.

Lancers edged by Artesians

Despite a 37 from Max Blandford, Edinburgh came up just short against Martinsville, 191-196.

Girls tennis

Lancers subdue Braves

Edinburgh wrapped its regular season Monday with a 4-1 victory over Brownstown Central. Bethany Burton, Jessica Walsh and Peyton Bryant claimed the three singles points for the Lancers (10-5) with straight-set wins, while Zoey Sida and Gracie Myers came out on top at second doubles.
