What’s happening with I-69 construction this week

As construction crews continue progress toward the completion of Interstate 69, Johnson County drivers can expect traffic to be reduced to one lane on State Road 37 later this week during daytime hours.

Construction crews will remove barriers south of the Fairview Road stoplight, where the traffic shift will occur.

The speed limit in construction zones in Johnson County will be reduced to 45 mph due to last week’s accident, according to an Indiana Department of Transportation news release.

In Marion County, the Mooresville Road bypass bridge over Interstate 465 is expected to reopen to traffic this week. The next bridge scheduled to be replaced, at Mann Road, will close for construction May 22, with two ramps remaining open on either side of the bridge for traffic entering and exiting the interstate, INDOT officials say.

Nighttime lane closures and 20-minute traffic stoppages may occur on I-465 this week, as cranes lift structural beams into place over the interstate for the Madison Avenue bridge. The construction will also close U.S. 31 and East Street on ramps to I-465 at night, INDOT officials say.

In Morgan County, the I-69 exit ramps to State Road 39 and Morton Avenue reopened Monday. Drivers should expect daytime crews and flaggers to be present as they apply finishing touches to the roundabout and surface streets nearby, INDOT officials say.

Drivers may also experience a change in traffic patterns between Martinsville and State Road 144, where State Road 37 is reduced to one lane in each direction, as highway workers grind pavement and apply pavement markings, mow grass and add stone to ditches for storm runoff, INDOT officials say.
