INDIANAPOLIS

Marilyn Isch Lindstaedt, 89, of Indianapolis, peacefully passed away at home, surrounded by her loving husband and children on May 13, 2022.Marilyn and her twin sister were born at home on September 14, 1932 to Alvin and Hilda Isch in rural Wood County, Ohio.

After graduating from Perrysburg High School in 1950, she and her twin sister, Carolyn, went on to study Foods and Nutrition at Ohio University. After graduation, Marilyn completed a one-year internship at Duke University in hospital dietetics before getting her first job at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

In 1957, the Midwest called her back and she became the Head Therapeutic Dietitian at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. It was here in 1958, she met William Lindstaedt, and they wed in 1960, going on to have three children, Emily Lindstaedt (Pollander), Bill Lindstaedt, Jr., and Carolyn Lindstaedt (Lupton). When Emily was born, Marilyn decided to dedicate her life to being a fantastic mother of three. After the children were grown, she returned to her work of dietetics near their home in Terre Haute, Indiana as the Nutritionist at the Maternal Health Clinic, Union Hospital.

Marilyn was a wonderful wife and homemaker, filled their home with kindness, and had a gift of hospitality and serving others. She excelled at propping up her family and supporting them through the many joys, passions, and difficulties of their lives. She was dedicated to God and improving the lives of others. We will miss her greatly. In her spare time, Marilyn could be found cooking, baking, doing needlework, and sewing. She and her husband, Bill, were very involved volunteering in church, served as youth group leaders for many years, volunteered at Johnson County Hospital, and Habitat for Humanity.

After retirement, they loved to travel and took many trips to see different parts of Europe and the United States.

Marilyn was predeceased by her twin sister, Carolyn and her daughter Emily. Marilyn is survived by Bill, her devoted husband of 62 years, children Bill Jr., and Carolyn, grandchildren Mallory, Megan, Ben, Will, Logan, and Parker.

There will be a celebration of life on Sunday, May 22, 2022, 2:30 -4:00 p.m. at Otterbein Senior Life Community at the Community Center, 1070 W. Jefferson Street, Franklin, Indiana 46131, door #E24 with a Celebration of Marilyn’s life at 3:00 p.m. led by Rev. Robert Coleman.
