Charges dismissed for man accused of domestic violence

Editors note: The Daily Journal previously reported about this incident and has written this update to clear the record. All persons in crime stories are innocent until proven guilty.

Prosecutors dismissed charges for a Greenwood man accused of assaulting two people in front of a toddler last July.

Dewan Singh Dhanoa, 29, was charged with three counts of domestic battery, including two Level 6 felonies and a Class A misdemeanor last July. On May 4, prosecutors filed a motion to dismiss the charges, and on May 11 Johnson County Circuit Court Judge Andrew Roesener ordered the charges dismissed, online court records show.

The charges were dismissed due to insufficent evidence, after one essential witness passed away and another recanted their prior testimony, said Joe Villanueva, prosecutor.
