What’s happening with I-69 construction this week

Johnson County drivers will have to contend with a few new traffic changes as they navigate roads on the western side of the county this week.

Starting on or shortly after Thursday, State Road 37 will shift to elevated pavement and bridges between Southport Road and Fairview Road. Traffic will no longer stop for traffic signals at County Line Road and nearby Wicker Road in Marion County, as new southbound entrance and exit ramps will open connecting with County Line Road west of State Road 37, closing southbound State Road 37 access to County Line Road for two months, according to an Indiana Department of Transportation news release.

To prepare for the traffic shift, drivers can expect one State Road 37 southbound lane to be closed one day this week as crews remove temporary barriers south of the Fairview Road stoplight. Those crews will be present on State Road 37 and adjacent roadways between Fairview Road and State Road 44’s intersection with Interstate 69. Temporary work zones will ease starting Friday afternoon as traffic increases for the Indianapolis 500 and Memorial Day weekend, according to the release.
