Betty Jean (Utterback) Combs

FRANKLIN, IN.

Betty Jean (Utterback) Combs, 81 of Franklin, IN passed away Monday May 23, 2022 at University Heights Health and Living Community in Indianapolis, IN.

She was born December 10, 1940 in Indianapolis, IN to Bennett and E. Jean (Robertson) Utterback, both who preceded her in death.

Betty was a 1959 graduate of Union School in Bargersville, IN. As an adult, she worked in Library Services for the Indianapolis Public Schools, an admissions assistant for a retirement community in Florida, an activities director for the Indiana Masonic Home, and later in life as a flower delivery person where she loved delivering joy to the clients.

She was a life-long member of Providence Christian Church, a fifty year member of the Union Village Order of the Eastern Star #545 and a member of the Greenwood Jaycees in her young adulthood. She enjoyed music and sang in the church choir as well as The Voices. Betty loved spending time with her family, gardening, baking and entering baked goods in the Johnson County Fair.

Survivors include her husband Don Sedam of Greenwood, IN, children DeeAnn McCloskey of Louisville, KY, Debra Ellett (Robert) of Franklin, IN, Dean Combs (Becky) of Martinsville, IN and Dennis Combs (Laura) of New Whiteland, IN, a sister Janice Bullman (Fred) of Bargersville, IN, twelve grandchildren James Bennett Pottorff, Elizabeth McCloskey Russel (Drake), Catherine McCloskey, Margaret McCloskey, Shawn Combs, Amber Wade, Megan Ellett, Corbin Combs, Lindsey Combs, Alysha Hartwell, Jerod Hartwell and Adam Johnson, great grandchildren Bryce Wade, Joziah Ellett and Izabelle Hartwell.

She was preceded in death by her parents and former spouse Jack D. Combs.

A celebration of life service will be conducted on Thursday May 26, 2022 at 2PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN beginning with the Union Village Order of the Eastern Star #545 followed by Dr. Steven L. Sorenson and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com. Friends may call Thursday May 26, 2022 from 12 Noon until service time at the mortuary. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
