Local police collecting food Saturday at Kroger stores

Franklin and Greenwood police will collect food Saturday at four local Kroger stores for local food banks.

The drive runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Franklin Kroger, 970 N. Morton Street; the south Greenwood Kroger, 2200 Independence Drive; the east Greenwood Kroger, 3100 Meridian Park Drive; and the Bargersville Kroger, 5961 N. State Road 135, according to a Kroger news release.

The Pack the Cruiser Food Drive has been a tradition for police in Hamilton County. This is the second year-in-a-row that Johnson County police agencies have taken part in the drive.

Today’s food drive is intended to address a variety of food needs, particularly for children during the summer month, the news release says.

Hamilton County police agencies will also be simultaneously collecting food at Kroger stores in Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville and Westfield, the news release said.

Particular items of need are peanut butter in a plastic container, jelly in a plastic container, canned fruit and vegetables, cereal boxes, granola bars, applesauce, fruit cups, instant oatmeal, macaroni and cheese cups and canned chicken and tuna, according to the news release.
