Here’s the latest on I-69 construction in Johnson County

Johnson County and southside drivers should expect continued road changes along State Road 37 this week.

Construction crews are expecting to open the new Bluffdale Drive extension late this week or early next week. Once opened, it will provide access west of State Road 37 from Fairview Road to Smith Valley Road. A small section of Bluffdale Drive has already been opened for Knights Drive traffic, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation.

Smith Valley Road is expected to close west of State Road 37 shortly after the new Bluffdale Road section opens. The road will remain open east of State Road 37 at the traffic signal, INDOT officials say.

On the southside, drivers should expect lane closures for guardrail repairs near the site of last week’s fiery crash on the new section of I-69 between Southport and Wicker Roads. The pavement in the area will be be smoothed over later in construction when the final layer of pavement is added through the entire area, INDOT officials say.

The Interstate 465 exit ramp at the Mann Road bridge will remain open to one-way traffic turning north on Mann Road following the removal of the bridge for a replacement last week. The traffic signal at the exit ramp has been temporarily replaced with a yield sign, INDOT officials say.

Nighttime lane closures are expected to continue for bridgework and median barrier removal along I-465 between State Road 37/Kentucky Avenue and Keystone Avenue this week. Also this week, utility crews are installing new lines near the Belmont and Epler Avenue intersection for upcoming work. A full closure of Belmont and Epler avenues west of State Road 37 is expected in July for the construction of the future I-69 interchange, INDOT officials say.
