George Donald Porter “Woodie”, 78, of Franklin, Indiana, passed away June 9, 2022.
He was born April 12, 1944, in Indianapolis, to George David Porter and Mary F. (Stucky) Porter.
Woodie attended the Mark Adams School of Woodworking in Whiteland for 9 years, obtaining his Masters degree in Woodworking. He loved racing slot cars and collecting boats along with moose memorabilia. He enjoyed being outdoors, camping and watching the ducks and birds.
Woodie is survived by his step-son, Timothy Plymate (Britney) of Fairland, step-son, Bryant Plymate (Britney) of Fairland, step-daughter, Brittany Smith (Robert Grider) of Trafalgar, step-son Christopher Smith of Franklin, 12 step-grandchildren, sister in-law, Michelle Romanoski (Rick) of Shelbyville, brother in-law, Roy Plymate Jr. (Anita Deiderich) of St. Omar, brother in-law, Francis Plymate II of Fairland, and mother in-law, Marion (Plymate) Janjua of Fairland.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and step-son Curtis Lee Smith.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 15, 2022 from 2pm until 4pm at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
Funeral services will follow at the funeral home with Rev. Curt Fewell officiating.
