A Trafalgar man was arrested after police say he showed pornography and gave alcohol to a teenage foreign exchange student who previously lived with him.
Enos L. Dotson, 53, was arrested Wednesday and is charged with dissemination of matter harmful to minors, a Level 6 felony, and providing alcohol to a minor, a misdemeanor.
The Trafalgar Police Department opened the investigation Sept. 15, 2021, after receiving a report of child abuse from a high school counselor, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Johnson Superior Court 2 on June 3.
The teen told police the two started out playing a card game with sexual terms written on the cards. They also said Dotson would make them play challenges, according to court documents.
Whoever lost the card game or challenge would then have to remove an article of clothing, and the teen ended up being completely naked in front of Dotson at one point. They also said Dotson asked them to take videos of themselves naked while home alone, court documents say.
The same day they played the card game, the teen was also drinking alcohol supplied by Dotson, court documents say.
Dotson additionally showed the victim a video of himself in his underwear where he pulled his underwear off and touched himself, according to court documents.
The teen told another student at school that they felt like they were being manipulated into sexual behavior, and the student reported it to a school counselor, who reported the incident to the police and the Department Child Services. Shortly after, Child Protective Services removed the teen from Dotson’s home and they were placed with a new family, court documents say.
Police obtained a search warrant and found the video of Dotson that the teen described on his cell phone. In an interview with police, Dotson also showed them the card game he played with the victim. He said “it’s full of innuendos, but it’s not bad.” He said it was a game another exchange student who had previously lived with him left behind, court documents say.
A warrant was issued Wednesday and he was arrested the same day. He was booked into the Johnson County jail and has since been released on $2,000 bond.
