Here’s the latest on I-69 construction in Johnson County

Interstate 69 construction is heating up this month.

In Johnson County, Smith Valley Road traffic was restricted at State Road 37 going east starting Tuesday. Traffic is shifted north through the work zone and is restricted to one lane in each direction with no dedicated turn lanes, according to a weekly update from Indiana Department of Transportation. Smith Valley Road is closed west of State Road 37.

Motorists should expect flaggers starting this week on Waverly Park Road/Old State Road 37, south of State Road 144. Crews will be adding temporary pavement for a future traffic shift, which will allow roundabout construction to proceed, INDOT officials say.

New Bargersville Water lines are still being installed along Smith Valley Road near Mullinix Road, INDOT officials say.

In Marion County, motorists should expect nighttime Interstate 465 lane closures as work continues to replace the Mann Road and Madison Avenue overpasses. The new Madison Avenue overpass is expected to open in mid- to late July. The Carson Avenue overpass will close shortly after the Madison Avenue overpass re-opens, INDOT officials say.

The Mann Road and Thompson Road intersection is scheduled to close later this month for a long weekend of road construction from Thursday evening through early Monday morning, INDOT officials say.

On Epler Avenue west of State Road 37, crews are installing new utility lines. The work will continue through mid- to late July. Following the line installation, Epler Avenue will close for the rest of the year.

To safely install sign structures along southbound State Road 37, there will be lane closures from Southport Road to Fairview Road. The work is expected to begin Tuesday and continue for three nights, INDOT officials say.
