Extra traffic enforcement on patrol this month in Johnson County

Another traffic enforcement blitz is under way this month in Johnson County.

The county’s law enforcement coalition is participating in a statewide safety enforcement operation during the month of July. The enforcement campaign uses federal funding to put additional officers on the roads to enforce traffic laws. The goal of this high-visibility enforcement is to deter dangerous driving behaviors that compromise safety on roadways during the high-traffic summer season, according to a news release from Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers will be on the look out for impaired drivers, seat belt violators, and stoplight and sign runners., the release says.

Anyone caught driving without a seatbelt or transporting children who are not properly restrained will be cited. Anyone caught disregarding stoplights and signs will also be cited.

Anyone caught driving under the influence with an illegal blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.08 or higher will be arrested.
