Master gardeners offer help during fair

Local residents with questions about their gardens and yards can tap into the knowledge of master gardeners all throughout fair week.

The Johnson County Master Gardeners, an organization within Purdue Extension Johnson County, will have a booth set up during this year’s fair to provide guidance to those with concerns.

“We’re there to help and educate the public,” said Cathy Sisson, a local master gardener. “We encourage people if they have any questions about gardening activity or a plant they’ve found, to come to master gardeners to talk to us.”

The booth will be open 1-9 p.m. Sunday, 11:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. July 23 in Fitzpatrick Hall.

Though they can’t guarantee they’ll have an answer to every query brought their way, the gardeners will use the resources to try.

“We may not know everything that people bring in, we can take it go to the Extension office and get help from them,” Sisson said.

Sign-up sheets also will be available for people who would like to sign up for master gardener classes and the Johnson County Garden Club.
