Harrison County man facing child sex crime charges in Johnson County

A Harrison County man is facing multiple child sex crime charges after prosecutors say he created a fake profile to get explicit messages from a Bargersville pre-teen.

Jacob Tyler Kintner-Sample, 22, of Elizabeth, was charged with three counts of possession of child pornography, a Level 6 felony, and three counts of dissemination of matter harmful to minors, also a Level 6 felony. He was booked into the Johnson County jail on Tuesday.

Bargersville Police began an investigation into sample in October of last year after receiving a report of inappropriate texting between a 12-year-old and an adult male. A woman had reported to police that they had overheard their child having a sexually-explicit phone conversation, according to a probable cause affidavit filed on June 20 in Johnson County Circuit Court.

When detectives spoke with the victim, they said they had sexted an adult male who they believed was 19. The victim told detectives that a person, who they had not spoken to on Snapchat for a year, had found them on Facebook Messenger, according to the affidavit.

The victim said they felt they were being pressured to send inappropriate photos, and when the victim did so, the male on the other end of the conversation shared the photo with his “friends.” Shortly after, they received text messages from the friends, with the friends saying they had gotten a message from a Jacob, later determined to be Kintner-Sample. The friends asked the victim to send explicit photos and video on requests, the affidavit says.

The victim then received a message from a Facebook profile called “Jon Dillinger,” and was later determined to belong to Kintner-Sample. Both the victim and Kintner-Sample exchanged messages and sexually-explicit photos and videos of both the victim and unknown males and females. During one conversation Kintner-Sample told the victim he was 19, and the victim said they were 17, the affidavit says.

During a search of the victim’s phone contacts and online messaging records, detectives discovered that Kintner-Sample had used an app to create five phone numbers, a.k.a. the “friends” that had messaged the victim, in order to solicit photos. All five numbers were linked to Kintner-Sample through his email address, according to the affidavit.

Detectives then requested a search warrant for Facebook’s records, which they received in January. The records which confirmed that Kintner-Sample and the victim had sent each other explicit photos and that he was behind the “Dillinger” account, the affidavit says.

Detectives then traveled to Elizabeth in Harrison County with a search warrant for Kintner-Sample’s phone. While at his home, detectives asked him if he had ever traded explicit images online. He first said that he had a year ago, but then said he had been on a dating app to trade images, the affidavit says.

He denied trading photos with anyone under the age of 18, the affidavit says.

When detectives searched his phone, they found his Facebook conversation with the victim and found a contact with the victim’s name and number. The Facebook conversation indicated that images were exchanged, and messages discussing the photos provided enough detail for police to believe the images were sexually-explicit, according to the affidavit.

When they searched Kintner-Sample’s text messages, detectives found a video with the victim in it, unclothed. The video was also saved to his device, the affidavit says.

A warrant was issued for Kintner-Sample’s arrest on June 22, and he was booked in to the Johnson County jail on Tuesday. His bond was set at $1,800, which he payed and was later released.
