Indianapolis man dead after motorcycle crash on Morgantown Road

An Indianapolis motorcyclist was killed after he was struck by another vehicle in northern White River Township Saturday afternoon.

First responders responded to a report of an accident at the intersection of Morgantown Road and Mount Pleasant Center Street around 12:41 p.m. Saturday. When they arrived, they found that a motorcycle had collided with an SUV, according to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report.

The motorcyclist, Christopher P. Wright, 27, of Indianapolis, was killed in the accident. He was ejected from the motorcycle and was wearing a helmet, deputies say.

The driver of the SUV told deputies that they were going north on Morgantown Road and had made a left turn into a neighborhood when they heard a bang and were covered in glass. They immediately pulled over and said they had no idea what happened. The driver said they didn’t see anyone when they were making the turn, according to the report.

A witness told deputies that they observed the SUV making a turn in front of Wright, who was driving southbound on Morgantown Road. The witness said they saw Wright hit the passenger side of the vehicle at an estimated speed of between 35-40 miles per hour, the report says.

The driver of the SUV complained of pain in their face. They sought immediate medical treatment, the report says.

Both the driver and the motorcyclist were given blood alcohol and drug tests, according to the report.

The Johnson County Coroner’s Office is conducting a death investigation in connection with the accident.
