I-69 update: County Line Road interchange opens, lanes of Southport Road to close

One road opens, while another one closes at the Interstate 69 interchange today.

County Line Road reopened to through traffic underneath State Road 37 overnight. The new road design features two roundabouts on both sides of State Road 37.

The roundabout west of State Road 37 provides full access to the southbound entrance and exit ramps and the Bluffdale Drive frontage road, according to a news release from the Indiana Department of Transportation.

A temporary exit ramp also opened, which provides access from northbound State Road 37 to County Line Road. This temporary ramp and Bluff Road connect with the new County Line Road roundabout east of State Road 37. The northbound State Road 37 exit ramp begins just past the bridge over County Line Road and the ramp has an advisory speed limit of 25 mph, INDOT officials say.

Also work is expected to begin tonight for a Citizens Energy Group gas line installation project on Southport Road near State Road 37. Crews plan to close the center lanes of Southport Road near the future interchange for about two weeks starting after 7 p.m.
