Stones Crossing, Honey Creek roads to close for roundabout construction

Drivers who travel along Honey Creek, Stones Crossing and Worthsville roads should prepare for partial closures of the roads in west Greenwood beginning next week.

Honey Creek Road will be closed to through traffic from County Road 750 North/Demaree Road to Stones Crossing Road and from Stones Crossing Road to Smokey Row Road beginning on Aug. 22 for a culvert project and construction of a roundabout at Stones Crossing Road. Full closures will take place along a small section of Honey Creek Road and the Stones Crossing-Honey Creek intersection, according to the city of Greenwood.

As part of the road construction projects, both Stones Crossing and Worthsville roads will see closures beginning on Aug. 22 as well.

Stones Crossing Road will be closed to through traffic from State Road 135 to Honey Creek Road and from Honey Creek Road to west of Ashton Lane for the roundabout project. Worthsville Road will be closed to through traffic from Ashton Lane to just west of Averitt Road for road work as well, city officials say.

All of the closures are expected to last mid-October, weather permitting. Residents will have full access to their homes throughout the projects, officials say.

The official detour route for all of the road work follows Smokey Row Road, State Road 135, County Road 750 North/Demaree Road, Honey Creek Road and West Cutsinger Road.
