Betty “Kate” Wycoff

Betty “Kate” Wycoff formerly of Southport, IN, passed away July 30, 2022, at Otterbein Franklin Senior Life Community. Kate was born in Whiteland, IN, on May 5, 1926, to the late James and Vera Lyons. After graduating from Southport High School in 1944, Kate attended Indiana Business College. She married the love of her life, Charles Wycoff on June 16, 1946, at Southport United Methodist Church. Charles preceded Kate in death on October 11, 2008, after 62 years of marriage.

Kate worked for Perry Township Schools, first as a cafeteria worker, and then as a library aide and media clerk. She was a member of Southport Baptist Church active in Fellowship Class and Friendship Circle.

In addition to her parents and husband, Kate is preceded in death by sister, Shirley Thompson; brothers-in-law, Tom Thompson and Frank Williams, and niece, Kathy Williams.

She is survived by children, Becky Poore (Jerry) of Greenwood, and Jim Wycoff (Susie) of Bargersville; grandchildren, Scott Poore (Bobbi), Todd Poore (Jenny), Alyssa Hastings (Neil), and Kelly Wycoff (fiancé Mike Yancer); great grandchildren, Ben and Bri Poore, Kyra, Alex and Camden Hastings, and Elliana Raza; sister, Susann Williams, and three nieces.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or Alzheimer’s Association.

Services for Kate are Thursday, August 11 at 1:00 pm with visitation from 11:00 am until time of service at Singleton and St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, 7602 Madison Ave., Indpls. 46227. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memory Garden Cemetery.
