Nancy Belle Weimer

GREENWOOD

Nancy Belle (Lawrence) Weimer, 85, of Greenwood passed away on Aug. 11, 2022. Nancy was born on Oct. 20, 1936, in Indianapolis to Preston and Ruth (Gallamore) Lawrence. After graduating Emmerich Manual High School in Indianapolis she began working at Atkins Saw Company. On Sept. 19, 1959, she married her husband, James. She was also a devoted member of Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church.

Nancy is survived by her husband, James; daughter Dawn (Wendell) Mitchell; son, Kurt (Kristine) Weimer; grandchildren: Elizabeth and Benjamin Weimer; step grandson, Colton Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Dale Lawrence.

Nancy enjoyed travelling the country with Jim – provided she did not have to cross over a body of water to do so. Always in search of great food and the perfect dessert, there wasn’t a recipe she couldn’t prepare nor improve upon. She enjoyed following the Indianapolis Pacers and the Butler Bulldogs, if only to catch a glimpse of her favorite mascot. Family and friends would regularly receive cards and letters which included newspaper clippings and comics she thought might interest or amuse them. She was immensely proud of her children and grand-children.

We are grateful for the extraordinary care given to Nancy in her last weeks at the Franciscan Hospice House in Indianapolis.

Funeral services to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church, 3100 W Stones Crossing Rd, Greenwood, IN 46143. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church on Monday.
