Greenwood Airport Day is this weekend

Indy South Greenwood Airport’s annual Airport Day will take place this weekend.

Airport Day will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m Saturday at Indy South Greenwood Airport, 897 Airport Parkway, Greenwood. Admission to the event is free and open to the public, airport officials say.

This year’s event will feature an expanded World War II reenactors’ area with planes, vehicles and ammunition demonstrations. Additionally, there will be free Experimental Aircraft Association Young Eagle flights for kids ages 8 to 17, and reservations for the flights can be made online at EAA1354.org, according to airport officials.

There will also be an opportunity to ride in a B-25 Mitchell Bomber Aircraft during the event. Tickets range from $360 for EAA members to $400 for nonmembers, and more information can be found online at www.FlyTheB25.org

Helicopter rides, flight simulators and police and fire vehicles will also be available at the event. There will also be a Ray Skillman Museum car display, and people can learn more about the civil air patrol and aviation careers during the event, according to airport officials.
