Girls golf

Trojans second at HOF tourney

Fifth-ranked Center Grove placed second among 15 teams in the Hall of Fame tournament at The Legends on Saturday, posting a team score of 299 to finish four shots behind No. 1 Carmel. Abby Rich led the Trojans with a 70, good for third individually. Lexi Stuart carded a 75 and Sage Parsetich a 76, while Camille Short and Rowen Pfeifle each finished at 78.

Host Franklin tied for sixth with a 318, led by Lexi Ray (74), Morgan Sandrock (79), Reese Phillips (80) and Addi Bright (85).

Cross country

Warriors finish third, fourth

Whiteland competed at the Rushville Invitational, with the boys finishing third in the large-school division and the girls fourth. Matthew Nino was fourth overall for the Warrior boys, followed by William Watson (17th) and Nolan Edens (18th). For the girls, Victoria Jackson was fourth and Isabella Fuentes seventh.

Braves shine in Franklin

Indian Creek fared well at the Franklin Invitational on Saturday, taking third in the girls race and fourth on the boys side. Freshman Libby Dowty was the individual girls winner with a personal-best time of 18:46, while Abby Fleetwood was third and Phoebe Dowty sixth. Luke Niebert led the boys with a 12th-place individual finish.

Ava Ott placed was 11th overall to lead the Grizzly Cub girls to a fourth-place finish. Franklin’s boys were fifth, led by Ari Smith finishing 17th individually.

Royals compete in county meet

Roncalli took part in the Marion County meet, with the boys finishing eighth and the girls ninth. Sam Vaught (16:40) was 13th overall for the boys, while Valeria Lara paced the girls with a 22nd-place showing.

Center Grove wins invitational

Tenth-ranked Center Grove swept its three weekend matches to take the Jasper Invtational, beating No. 15 Avon 3-2 and posting 4-1 wins over Castle and the host Wildcats. Max Williams and Carson Bush teamed up for three wins at No. 1 doubles for the Trojans (8-1), while second singles player Garrett Wasson and the No. 2 doubles tandem of Evan Davis and Daksh Patel each contributed a pair of victories.

Woodmen take two of three

Greenwood finished second at the Franklin Invitational on Saturday, shutting out Decatur Central and Martinsville before suffering a 4-1 setback to the host Grizzly Cubs. Noah Paswater was a perfect 3-0 on the day for the Woodmen (8-3).

Braves remain unbeaten

Indian Creek picked up a pair of 4-1 victories, defeating Northview and West Vigo in conference matches at Edgewood. Brendan Conner won both of his matches at No. 2 singles for the Braves (7-0, 3-0 WIC), while the two doubles teams (Aiden Pemberton/Landon Sichting and Trent Volz/Aaron Spurgeon) were both perfect as well.

Grizzly Cubs fall to Roncalli

Franklin suffered a 3-1 setback against Roncalli on Saturday. Sophia Lewis, Camryn Clark and Emily Sering each scored a goal for the Royals (4-2-1). Izzy Traut found the net for the Grizzly Cubs in a losing effort.

Trojans blank Reitz

Class 3A No. 7 Center Grove picked up a 2-0 victory at Evansville Reitz. Emily Karr and Ali Wiesmann collected the two goals for the Trojans.

Woodmen rout Cardinals

Greenwood cruised past Southport, 6-0. Emily Metzger scored twice for the Woodmen, while Kendyl Farmer, Joelle Young, Mallory Mahin and Lilly Rollings each found the net once. Young added three assists in the victory.

Boys soccer

Warriors gain first victory

Whiteland got into the win column by defeating Seymour, 1-0, on Saturday. Braden Hall tallied the decisive goal for the Warriors (1-5), assisted by Will Cooprider.

Royals clipped by Falcons

Roncalli surrendered a pair of late goals in a 2-1 loss to Perry Meridian. Isaac Gomez-Alejo scored the lone goal for the Royals (2-3) off an assist from his brother Alejandro.

Volleyball

Trojans surge past Quakers

Center Grove rallied from two sets back for a 16-25, 12-25, 25-22, 25-18, 15-12 triumph over Plainfield on Saturday.

Braves claim tourney title

Indian Creek won its own invitational by defeating Bedford North Lawrence, Alexandria and Waldron. Faith Wiseman had 23 kills and nine aces on the day for the Braves, who also got 24 digs and eight aces from Adrianna Williams as well as 35 assists from Grayson Burkett.
