New wellness studio brings hot trends to Bargersville

Some of the newest and hottest wellness trends are coming to Bargersville.

Radiant Wellness Infrared Studios is a new business opening in Duke Commercial’s South Grove Commons at the corner of Whiteland Road and State Road 135.

There, they will offer the newest trending wellness treatments: infrared saunas, red light therapy and dry salt therapy.

“Those are three of the fastest growing types of wellness treatment therapy going in the country right now,” owner Vic Koons said.

At Radiant Wellness Infrared Studios, all the experiences are individualized, Koons said. Customers can book private sauna sessions at the studio. Unlike traditional saunas that use heating elements to raise the temperature of the air inside, infrared saunas use infrared light to heat a person’s body while the air around stays unchanged, but it affects the core body temperature.

Infrared saunas can help with weight loss, skin quality and easing joint pain, Koons said. Many professional athletes, including Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors NBA team, and celebrities like Gweneth Paltrow use infrared saunas.

Red light therapy will also be offered at the studio in a designated “red light room,” Koons said. This therapy can help with skin improvements, hair growth, wound healing, and it can help reduce acute and chronic pain. Red light therapy is also currently being used in some clinical trials to treat Parkinson’s disease.

In the dry salt room, halotherapy, also known as dry salt therapy, is where “99.99% Pure Grade Sodium Chloride” is heated and then ground and crushed into tiny microparticles. These dry aerosol particles of salt are then dispersed into the salt room via a machine called a Halogenerator. As a person relaxes during a 30-minute session, the microparticles are inhaled. This therapy can help with respiratory concerns and also skin conditions.

Hot yoga and hot cycling will also be offered at the studio, and they plan to sell Plant Therapy essential oils and wellness products.

Koons became interested in the infrared sauna business “by mere accident” a few years ago, he said. His doctor recommended he try an infrared sauna, so he looked into buying one for his house.

He realized that there was not much of a presence for sales of infrared saunas in the Midwest, so he became a supplier for the area. He is also the owner of Infrared Sauna of Indiana, Inc., which carries Clearlight saunas.

Not everyone can afford to put their own personal sauna in their homes, and there wasn’t another business in Johnson County that offers these therapies. So Koons set out to open a studio in Bargersville.

“I just think there’s a real need for it,” Koons said.

He thinks there will be a lot of interest, as he’s already worked with several people in the area to purchase their own saunas, he said.

“Oh, I think it’s gonna be big,” Koons said.

Koons hopes to open Radiant Wellness Infrared Studios in the next 30 days, as soon as construction finishes, he said.

New customers can use the “intro special” to try any experience for $20. The studio will offer a variety of packages or individual pricing per experience. Monthly passes and family packages will also be available.
