Young helps Grace College golf win opener

The Grace College women’s golf team opened its fall season by winning the 13-team Trine Invitational as senior Lucy Young, a Center Grove graduate, tied for second place among the individuals with a 79.

Center Grove

Freshman outside hitter Katie Egenolf finished with four kills and a dig to help Ball State women’s volleyball down William & Mary in four sets in a tournament at South Florida.

Indiana State junior middle blocker Jamie Brown had eight kills over three matches as the Sycamores lost to Indiana, Jacksonville State and Chicago State at the Indiana Invitational.

Defensive specialist Ashley Eck helped Eckerd win its own tournament in St. Petersburg, Florida, with a total of 64 digs and 15 assists over four matches, all won by 3-0 scores.

Wisconsin setter Madison Hammill had eight assists, eight digs and two service aces in the Badgers’ three-set sweep of TCU. The junior also finished with 19 assists and 10 digs in a five-set loss to Baylor.

Drake junior goalkeeper Kelti Wise made four saves for the women’s soccer squad in a 3-1 loss to Kansas.

Vincennes freshman golfer Nate Olsen shot scores of 83 and 78 to tie for 29th place individually at the Heartland Invitational in Normal, Illinois.

Franklin

Senior midfielder Owen Atkison scored two goals to help lead the University of Indianapolis men’s soccer team to a 5-0 victory over Ohio Dominican.

IUPUI volleyball won one of three matches at the Eastern Kentucky tournament, with junior setter Brooke Phillips totaling 19 digs and nine assists.

Greenwood

Anna Cruser contributed a total of 33 digs in four matches as Kentucky Christian women’s volleyball competed in a tournament in Elida, Ohio.

Wheeling (West Virginia) freshman defensive specialist Melia Gorrell had a 13 digs over four matches at the West Florida Invitational.

Roosevelt (Illinois) middle blocker Alyssa Stilley played in all four matches, totaling 18 kills and two digs, as her team participated in the Knight Invite at Marian.

Roncalli

Senior outside hitter Grace Hegwood, a Greenwood resident, had nine digs and six kills for UIndy volleyball in a five-set defeat of visiting Anderson (S.C.). She added eight kills and six digs in a three-set sweep of Findlay.
