Voter registration deadline is Oct. 11

The deadline for residents to register to vote is quickly approaching.

Residents have until Oct. 11 to register to vote in the upcoming general election on Nov. 8. Under Indiana law, legal adults who are U.S. citizens are eligible to vote as long as they meet certain criteria.

To register, a resident must:

  • be a U.S. citizen and an Indiana resident
  • have resided in their voting precinct at least 30 days before the next election
  • be at least 18 years old on the day of the election
  • not currently be in prison after being convicted of a crime

Residents can go online to register at Johnson County residents can also register in person by visiting the county voter registration office at the Johnson County Courthouse, 5 E. Jefferson St., Franklin, or any license branch.

Early voting begins on Oct. 12. The deadline for absentee ballot applications is Oct. 27, and applications can apply online at or apply in person at Johnson County Voter Registration.
