Comedy event to benefit suicide prevention foundation

A comedy event will raise money and awareness for suicide prevention in Edinburgh on Friday.

The second annual Comedy for a Cause event will take place at the Pixy Theatre in Edinburgh on Friday. Doors open at 6 p.m., with showtime at 7 p.m., according to a Powerhouse Entertainment news release.

The goal of the event is to raise money and awareness for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. There are an average of 123 suicides every day in the U.S., and suicide is the second-leading cause of death among young adults, the news release says.

A raffle at the event will include a quilt made for the event by the Indiana Women’s Prison, a George Burns autograph and a handmade Christmas stocking of 4 Course Comedy, among other items.

Tickets are $10 to purchase in advance online at m.bpt.me/event5527305. Tickets will also be available at the door.
