Here’s the latest on I-69 construction in Johnson County

The weather is getting colder, but construction of Interstate 69 continues to heat up in Johnson and Marion counties.

Midweek between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., work on the future Smith Valley Road bridge over I-69 will require single-lane closures on State Road 37, according to a weekly update from the Indiana Department of Transportation.

Bluff Road near the former Bluffdale Road intersection with State Road 37 is closed for a month for realignment. Drivers can get around the closure by using Fairview Road to the north or Wakefield Road to the south, INDOT officials say.

Drivers will notice steel posts being delivered along Old State Road 37 near the Oak Meadows Mobile Home Community, ahead of noise barrier work that is expected to begin in the coming weeks, officials say.

In Marion County, waterline work will close northbound lanes on State Road 37/Harding Street and Interstate 465 interchange exit ramps between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The lane near the Pilot Travel Center is expected to be closed through early November, officials say.

Work on the Southport Road bridge over I-69 will require nighttime, single-lane closures on State Road 37. Construction of a stop light at Wellingshire Boulevard and Belmont Avenue will stop nighttime traffic on Southport Road intermittently for up to 20 minutes, officials say.

The ongoing Carson Avenue overpass replacement will also require intermittent nightly closures of the I-65 southbound ramp to I-465 westbound, officials say.

Drainage pipe installation will also restrict Wicker Road to one lane near State Road 37, with a temporary signal to alternate two-way traffic between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily, officials say.
