Bridge project on 135 in Morgantown pushed back to Nov. 7

The upcoming closure of the State Road 135 bridge over Indian Creek, south of State Road 252, has been postponed. The closure will now begin on or after Nov. 7, for rehabilitation work on the truss bridge near Morgantown, Indiana Department of Transportation officials said in a construction update.

State Road 135 will close between Church Street and the south end of the bridge over Indian Creek. The closure will allow crews to remove the temporary runaround and bridge, complete milling and paving, and install guardrails and storm sewer. The truss bridge is expected to open to traffic in mid-to-late November, weather permitting, INDOT officials said.

Traffic should use the official detour route, which follows U.S. 31 to Interstate 65 Exit 76 at Taylorsville to Exit 68 at State Road 46, back to State Road 135, INDOT officials said.

INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, avoid distractions and use extra caution when traveling in and near active construction zones.
