Samuel “Sam” Joseph Reed

FRANKLIN, IN.

Samuel “Sam” Joseph Reed, 65, of Franklin, Indiana passed from this life Wednesday, October 12, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones. Sam was born on March 5, 1957, in Columbus, Indiana to Mary Francis (Conder) Hendricks and Donald Leon Reed.

He married the love of his life, Loretta Jacobs June 4, 1977, in Bloomington, Indiana. He is survived by his wife; his 3 brothers David Reed (Jana) of Bedford, IN, Timothy Reed of Ellettsville, IN and William Reed of Bloomington, IN, his son Joseph D. Reed and his wife Angela Fritz Reed of Paragon, IN and Jerrydon Reed and his wife Karen Still Reed of Mishawaka, IN, and his daughter Crystal H. Reed Lloyd and her husband Brian A. Lloyd of St. George, UT. He was also extremely proud of his 15 grandchildren – Brayton J. Arthur, Ramzee D. Reed, Korrinna D. Cameron Holbrook, Autumn L. Cameron, Alexis L. Lloyd Allen, Kylie M. Lloyd, Savannah J. Lloyd, Dylan A. Lloyd, Mia H. Lloyd, Grayson B. Reed, Sutton A. Reed, Eagan M. Reed, Holden J. Reed, Benson C. Reed and Destiny Sledge; and his 3 great grandchildren – Maivrey D. Holbrook, Avalynn D. Holbrook, and Moyer L. Arthur.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Nancy Williams.

Sam is a veteran who loved and proudly served his country. In 1974 he fought in Vietnam as a Marine. In 1976 he joined the Army National Guard where he retired in 1994. He worked hard to provide for his family and worked at Otis Elevator and later retired from the government as a transportation specialist.

Sam was a dedicated and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served as best he could, always willing to give aide where it was needed. He had a passion for helping others and passed that love on to everyone who knew him.

Visitors are welcome to pay their respects on Saturday, October 15, 2022, from 10AM until 12 Noon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day-Saints located at 201 Eastview Dr. in Franklin, IN where a service will follow at 12 Noon. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens in Bloomington, IN with military honors being conducted by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard and Monroe County Honor Guard.
