Letter to the Editor: Think before you vote

To the Editor:

Do you believe in protecting our Democracy? That January 6th was one of the worst moments in our country’s history?

Do you believe climate change is real, caused by mankind’s use of fossil fuel? That we are close to a tipping point, and must act NOW, as the consequences of our actions become more evident in floods, wildfires, draughts, hurricanes, etc.?

Do you believe decisions about a woman’s physical and mental well being should be private, between a woman and her physician, not politicians? That women are not second class citizens, whose bodies are being controlled by the State?

Do you believe in supporting voting rights? Civil rights?

Do you believe teachers, law enforcement officials, doctors, scientists, librarians should be respected and listened to?

Do you believe in sensible gun laws? Campaign finance reform? That corporations are not people (Citizens United)? Against book banning?

Then think before you vote. Research candidates. Don’t vote for a particular party because you always have. Don’t only listen to your usual source of information. Our Democracy depends on it! Be an informed citizen!
