Here’s the latest on I-69 construction in Johnson County

The Interstate 69 construction zone will continue to be active this week, as work continues between Marion and Morgan counties.

In Johnson County, trucks will be delivering bridge beams throughout the I-69 work zone around midday on Tuesday. Drivers should expect intermittent stoppages near the State Road 144 interchange as beams are backed into the construction zone. The new beams are for the S.R. 144 on-ramp to southbound I-69, which is expected to open later this year, according to a weekly construction update from the Indiana Department of Transportation.

Huggin Hollow Road access to Waverly Park Road/Old State Road 37 is also expected to reopen with a traffic shift this week. The closure was for roundabout construction at State Road 144 to the north, INDOT officials say.

In Marion County, crews are preparing to shift Southport Road onto the new bridge over I-69 next month. Traffic will shift west of State Road 37 this weekend, near Wellingshire Boulevard and the realigned Belmont Avenue. Drivers should expect left-turn access to close for less than a day during the transition, INDOT officials say.

Late last week, crews lifted structural beams into place for the Carson Avenue overpass. Drivers on I-465 should expect lane closures and intermittent traffic stops at night for continued bridgework, INDOT officials say.

In Morgan County, median cable barrier installation, drainage work and other finishing touches continue along State Road 37 between Martinsville and Henderson Ford Road. Overhead lighting at the Henderson Ford Road interchange has been completed to provide lighting at new the roundabouts, INDOT officials say.
