Reva Nell Smith

FRANKLIN

Reva Nell (Quimby) Smith, 93 of Franklin, passed away on October 22, 2022.

She was born on October 7, 1929 in Bloomfield, Indiana (Green County) to Curtis D. and Orpha O. (Combs) Quimby. Reva married Donald F. Smith on July 3, 1949. She is survived by her loving daughters, Deborah J. (Smith) Mendenhall (Thomas) and Terri E. (Smith) Chastain (Forest “Jack”); grandchildren, Brian C. Chastain (Kelly); Kimberly D. Wilcoxon (Jason); and Stacie L. King (Cory); great-grandchildren, Leo A. Wilcoxon, Amber Wilcoxon, Kylie N. King, Hayden T. King and Tyler R. King. Also surviving are brother, Maxwell D. Quimby; sisters, Velma I. Ison and Loretta S. Harrington; sister-in-law, Eugenia “Jane” Smith and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in passing by her parents; husband, Don; sisters, Gladys Carmichael and Waneta Kelley; brothers-in-law, Herbert Carmichael, John Elsworth Kelley, Robert Ison, Russell Harrington, Carl Smith and Robert Smith and sisters-in-law, Helen Quimby and Helen Smith.

Reva graduated from Bloomington High School.

She was the Church Secretary for Tabernacle Christian Church for many years.

She was a faithful member and Elder of Tabernacle Christian Church where she served on the General Board and was the Board Secretary for several years. She was a long-time member of Christian Women’s Fellowship where she was Secretary for the board of CWF. She was active in all things at Tabernacle, including, but not limited to, the Ladies’ Christmas Tea, church meals, fundraisers, cooking turkey dinners for the Thanksgiving dinners, funeral dinners and with the Community dinners. Reva was a special person and an inspiration to all. She was a 50-year member of Upsilon chapter of Kappa Kappa Sigma, then a member of the associate chapter, Upsilon Epsilon and was past president of this chapter. Reva was also a long-time member of a euchre club. She enjoyed reading and sewing. She was an avid Reds and IU fan. Reva loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rev. Evie Stuard will conduct a Celebration of Reva’s life on Friday, October 28th at 1:00 p.m. at Tabernacle Christian Church, 198 N. Water Street in Franklin with visitation for family and friends on Friday, October 28th from 10:00 a.m. to time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin. Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home in Franklin is assisting the family with arrangements.
