Two Johnson County residents who were facing criminal charges have pleaded guilty and been sentenced for child sex crimes and drug dealing, respectively.

Edinburgh man sentenced for sex crime

An Edinburgh man will serve six years on child sex crimes charges after he pled guilty to having sex with a half-sibling.

Daniel Alan Boucher II, 25, formerly of Franklin, pled guilty to sexual misconduct with a minor and incest, both Level 4 felonies, before Johnson County Superior Court 3 Judge Douglas Cummins on Sept. 1. He was sentenced to six years in prison on Oct. 14.

Two years of the sentence will be executed, two years will be on home detention and the final two years will be on probation, according to court officials.

Detectives with the Franklin Police Department began investigating Boucher in July 2019 after a woman reported a teenage half-sibling of Boucher’s had a sexual relationship with him for three years. The woman learned of the relationship four months earlier in 2019 after she became suspicious, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Johnson County Superior Court 3 in September 2019.

When the woman confronted them about it, they both allegedly admitted that they had been having sex. The woman said she did not initially contact anyone about this because she tried, at the family’s urging, to correct the issue. She made sure that the two were never alone together and did not allow him to stay overnight, according to the affidavit.

The woman contacted the police after finding out that Boucher and the teen were still having sex in other locations, the affidavit says.

The teen allegedly told detectives that they didn’t want Boucher to get in trouble because they were a willing participant, according to the affidavit.

Franklin woman sentenced for drug dealing

A Franklin woman has pled guilty and was sentenced to 15 years in prison for dealing drugs on two separate occasions in the summer of 2021.

Jennifer S. Kean, 40, pled guilty to dealing in a Schedule I controlled substance, a Level 3 felony, dealing in cocaine, a Level 4 felony, and dealing in cocaine, a Level 5 felony, before Johnson County Superior Court 3 Judge Douglas Cummins on Oct. 13. The Level 3 felony charge was a lesser included charge of a Level 2 felony, according to online court records.

A misdemeanor charge of dealing marijuana was dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

Kean was sentenced to 15 years in an Indiana Department of Correction facility with a one-day jail credit. She was also recommended to participate in a Recovery While Incarcerated program, according to online court records.

The first drug deal took place in June 2021. During the deal, a confidential informant bought cocaine from Kean at her Franklin home, according to a probable cause affidavit filed on Aug. 6, 2021.

The second drug deal took place near the end of July 2021. On this occasion, an informant and an undercover detective bought cocaine, marijuana and psilocybin mushroom bars from Kean. This deal also took place at her home, the affidavit says.

A child was present at the home during this drug deal, according to the affidavit.

On both occasions, police were monitoring and watching the informant. The drug deals were also recorded on video, the affidavit says.
