Free recycling events set for Nov. 5 in Franklin

Johnson County Recycling District and Shares, Inc. will host a document shredding and electronics collection event 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday at 900 Arvin Road, Franklin.

The event is free and open to Johnson County residents and businesses. Documents will be collected in locked containers and shredded off-site at Shares, Inc. in Shelbyville.

Most electronics will be accepted at the event, but TVs and computer monitors will not be accepted.

The Johnson County Tox Box will also be open that day for residential use, 9 a.m. to noon by appointment only. Visit the website, JCRD.org to set an appointment time. The Tox Box is located at 1051 Hospital Road, Franklin.

The following items are being accepted for free: household cleaning supplies, yard and pool chemicals, automotive fluids, poisons, aerosol can, adhesives, oil-based paint and stain. No latex paint, batteries or light bulbs will be accepted.

Open for Johnson County residents only. No businesses, contractors or small-quantity generators will be accepted.
