Letter to the Editor: Think about 2020 this election

To the Editor:

If you are looking to vote for Republicans in the upcoming election, look at what they did in the 2020 election.

When Joe Biden won the presidency, Donald Trump refused to accept the results and claimed the election was rigged. This is referred to as the “Big Lie”, one of the many Trump tells. In fact, the Washington Post reported that in the four years of the Trump presidency, he had told over 30,000 lies. The “Big Lie” is still being told and in many races across the country, election deniers are in positions to win and be in positions of changing election laws. This is a compelling reason why our democracy is threatened.

When are voters going to wake up and vote against Republicans for things like the law change to disenfranchise voters in a state like Georgia?

When Trump lost, he certainly knew about if not help to plan the riot on the U.S. Capitol on Jan 6th. He may have learned these tactics from Vladimir Putin. Do not forget how soft he was on Putin while in office.

In 2020, Republicans were content to just criticize their opponents. The problem with that is that they are not telling voters what they stand for and what they want to do.

The strategy of denying election results also works when there is evidence of climate change. Simply deny the facts and do nothing.

Since 2016, what Republican has had the guts to stand up to Donald Trump? The only one I can find is Liz Cheney, but the rest of them are afraid of him and are mostly concerned with holding on to their positions in government.

Why would you want to be in government if you have no interest in improving things or making life better for people?
