Boys basketball

Lancers dominate Spartans

Caleb Dewey poured in 28 points as Class A No. 7 Edinburgh opened its season with a 73-37 home rout of Southwestern on Tuesday night. Connor Ramey contributed 13 points for the Lancers, followed by Jarrett Turner with 10.

Girls basketball

Trojans pull away from Royals

Audrey Annee’s 15 points led a balanced attack that powered Center Grove to a 53-43 win at Roncalli on Tuesday. Aubrie Booker added 11 points for the Trojans (4-3), who also got 10 from Rachel Wirts and nine from Lindsey Walker. Claire Lindsey and Sydney Horton paced the Royals (3-2) with 11 points apiece.

Foster earns weekly honors

Indian Creek guard Lauren Foster was named the IBCA Player of the Week for District 3 after leading the Braves to the Johnson County tournament title last week. Foster averaged 24 points over three victories, with a high of 35 points in a first-round win at Franklin. She was 29 of 31 from the foul line and contributed nine assists.

Swimming and diving

Woodmen sweep Artesians

Greenwood dominated its dual meet with Martinsville, with the boys winning by a 101-23 score and the girls taking a 103-76 victory. The Woodmen boys won all three relays and got individual victories fom Ethan Rose (200 IM, 100 backstroke), Trace Wharton (50 freestyle), Arya Gokhale (100 butterfly), Lucas Young (100 free) and Ben Wehnert (100 breaststroke). For the girls, Ryann Marker (200 and 500 free), Hailey Peckinpaugh (50 and 100 free) and Naomi Weaver (100 fly, 100 back) were all double winners, while Eleanor Guipe took the 200 IM and the medley and 200 free relays both finished first.

Franklin College

Women’s basketball suffers setback

Franklin College was outdueled in the second and fourth quarters, leading to a 72-58 home loss to Albion. CiCi Bailey led the Grizzlies (1-2) with 12 points and eight rebounds before fouling out, while Jordan Coon added nine points.
