Corienne Jean Gettum

GREENWOOD

Corienne Jean Gettum, 96, of Greenwood, In and formerly of Buffalo, NY and Toledo,Ohio passed away peacefully on November 17, 2022. Corienne was bornto Paul and Jeanette (Cooper) McFarland in Masury, Ohio.

Corienne lead a happy active life full of travel and volunteer work. She shared this with the love of her life Gordon A. Gettum, for over 55 years until his passing in2003. They moved several times in their marriage and the last time brought them to Indy to share their love of all the Speedway races and their grandsons too.

Corienne loved to read, decorate, entertain friends and family, and travel. She was fortunate to have numerous friends who accompanied her and Gordon all over the world. She created so many wonderful memories and spent her last days looking through an old scrapbook she had been assembling since she and Gordon were in high school together.

Corienne was a positive and gracious person. She showed her faith by her actions. Her advice was to put a smile on your face, be kind to everyone and if you don’t like something, then work to change it. This passion started in high school and continued well into retirement. She ended up being President of almost every organization she joined. She was most proud of the work she did for the Guardian Home, and for Goodwill where she was the President of GIVES, a national volunteer group of Goodwill.

She is survived by her children, Phil (Meg) Gettum and Jayanna (Jack) Johnson, her sister, Deanna Herman, and several nieces, a nephew, lots of grandchildren and even more great- grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

A Private family Service will be held in January.
